Skiing in Switzerland – My pick of the best resorts
Posted in: Switzerland
The Swiss Alps have forever been link to glamorous holidays and beautiful views, but has often been overlooked when it comes to Ski holidays. I’m here to right that wrong and tell you about some of the best Ski resorts you’ll find not just in Switzerland but the world! If you’re looking for that “chocolate box” view of the perfect ski resort then you’ve come to the right place. So here’s my pick of the best Ski resorts in Switzerland for the 2015 season and beyond! If you’re looking for hotels at any of them check out Elegant Resorts for some great luxury accommodation.
One of the best places to go not just for ski but for sun too! With altitudes between 1,800 and 3,30 metres snow is pretty much guaranteed up here. The resort boasts over 217 miles (350km) of piste slopes and has some of the latest equipment to get you to the top quickly too. St. Moritz has been a winter mecca for some 150 years now and there’s a fantastic array options for both skiers and snowboarders. Carving runs, free ride slopes, large nursery slopes for beginners and even a glacier downhill run for the more experienced.
The resort town is a car free zone so the atmosphere here is relaxed and quiet too. It’s a great place for families especially those of differing skill levels and they guarantee snow from December to the end of April, so if you can’t want until the new year to hit the slopes this may be the best choice for you. Be warned Zermatt is one of the more expensive ski resorts in the country but there are still some competitively priced hotels in town, just expect to pay a little extra for a rather expensive ski lift pass. Worth noting that under 10s ski for free so that should help your budget a little. Cheek out zermatt.ch/en.
