If you’re anything like me then the minute the clock struck midnight and 2019 began, you’ll have started thinking about all of the amazing musicals that are going on in the West End.
I quickly started to book tickets, but the problem I had was I genuinely didn’t know where to start — there’s just so much to see this year! To give you a little bit of food thought I’ve put pen to paper on a few ideas that you’re going to want to take a look at.
All you need to do now is decide which one you want to go and see first!
Who doesn’t love a good Disney movie? Well, imagine how much more you’ll love Aladdin’s exploits when they’re accompanied by song and dance on the biggest stage of them all. There’s simply nothing I love more than sitting back in awe of a great story told with a powerful performance. As you can probably tell, it’s no accident that this is the first entry on my list! Check out Aladdin tickets here.
School of Rock
13 kids playing rock music live onstage with a new score from the West End legend that is Andrew Lloyd Webber, doesn’t get any better than that does it folks? I’ve read all about the splash it’s made on Broadway in the last couple of years, and I simply cannot wait to sit back and enjoy every second of it in the Gillian Lynne Theatre. On Your Feet!
I always get super excited when a new musical comes to town because I know we’re being treated to something the rest of the city hasn’t seen yet. This is a classic jukebox musical that tells you all there is to know about the amazing lives of Emilio and Gloria Estefan. There’s song, dance, music, and a few tears thrown in for food measure. But there is one drawback folks…
…it’s not debuting in the West End until June! I know, I know, how could I have put this one on my list, get you all excited, and then tell you to wait. It’s okay though, book ahead and you’ll be able to get the best seats in the house for the opening night. What could be better than that?
Motown the Musical
If you love your Motown and you’re a big Berry Gordy fan, then this should be right up your street. MJ, Marvin Gaye, and even the legendary Diana Ross were treated to a little of Gordy’s magic in the studio, and now you can see it all play out on stage. What could be better than that?
It’s a musical I’ve been waiting to see ever since it was a hit on Broadway, and the early reviews indicate that it won’t disappoint. More info on tickets here.
This is a must-see for all of your MJ fans out there, or actually any music fans out there for that matter. The man that brought the moonwalk to the world put on quite a show in his day, and now his charismatic performances live on in the West End. I cannot wait to go and see this one, should be thrilling!
Here’s a clip from last year’s West End Live festival showcasing some of the awesome performances in Thriller Live.
It made quite the splash on the big screen, and now it’s very much alive and kicking on the biggest stage of them all. All I can say is that if you loved the movie then you’re going to enjoy the musical even more. Every score comes to life before your very eyes and you just don’t know where to look. It’s the stuff that my West End dreams are made of! Click here for tickets.
