How to stay fit when I travel
Posted in: Uncategorized
Staying fit as you travel might sound like an impossible task, but with the right mindset you can feel in the best shape ever, no matter where you’re going and what you’re doing.
It can be nice to indulge in alcohol and sweet foods when on the road, but doing this too often will lead to health issues down the line.
If you want to make sure you don’t let your fitness slip when you’re traveling, here’s what to do:
Buy Some Cheap Workout Equipment
You never know where the nearest gym is going to be, so purchase some cheap workout equipment so you can work out on the beach or in the comfort of your own hotel room if you want to.
You could purchase some resistance bands, which are easy to travel with, and some ankle weights if you’re not worried about the weight in your case or bag.
Resistance bands could mean being able to make your bodyweight workouts even more challenging, so they are a great addition when you’re on the road.
You can do pull-ups with them, squats, glute bridges, overhead press, and more.
Research Gyms In the Area
Of course if you don’t mind spending a little money as you travel, you could research gyms in the area to see what’s available.
There may be some cheap pay as you go gyms where you can go to take advantage of the equipment.
Stay In Accommodation With Fitness Areas
If you have the budget, you could look for accommodation that has fitness suites. Some may have a pool, while others may have an actual gym that you can use before you go out to explore.
Places like the DOUGLAShave fitness suites that members can take advantage of, so see if you can fit something like that into your budget on your next trip.
Of course you don’t need a fully fledged gym, but it can certainly help you to get a better workout in and keep you feeling motivated.
Choose Colorful, Healthy Meals
When you’re out and about, you can’t really eat exactly what you want or track calories/macros. Don’t worry about this. The more you stress the more your body will hold onto fat and produce cortisol.
You want to feel good as you travel, not stressed. Just try to make the best decisions as you go about your day. Choose colorful mealswith plenty of natural ingredients.
Stay away from sugary foods and deep fried foods. You can have the odd treat, but everything should be in moderation.
Walk As Much As You Can
Some places are going to be too big for you to explore on foot, but walk when you can. If you can avoid getting a taxi or going on a bus, then do it and enjoy the sites up close instead.
You might even discover things you never would have otherwise. Just make sure you have some great shoes to support your feet!
Staying fit as you travel doesn’t have to be a chore!
