A guide to London’s most luxurious neighbourhoods

If you’ve ever visited or lived in London, you won’t be unbeknownst to how expensive and luxurious the English capital can be. London is filled with beautiful boroughs and bustling neighbourhoods that are great to visit while travelling, but can take a hefty toll on your bank account if you choose to live there. If you have an adventure to London on the horizon, take a look at this guide to some of the most luxurious neighbourhoods in London that are definitely worth a wander round.

Belgravia

You don’t get much more luxurious than royalty, and a stroll through London’s Belgravia neighbourhood will leave you feeling fancy in no time. A popular tourist destination due to Buckingham palace, Belgravia is the perfect place to relax on a lazy afternoon, admiring the stylish architecture and beautiful gardens. Although it is mainly a residential area, there are still some great restaurants for a chilled bite to eat, and the neighbourhood’s central location means there are lots of livelier spots nearby.

Mayfair

Hailed as London’s top luxury neighbourhood back in 2016, Mayfair is definitely an area worth checking out when in the city. Home to some of the most exclusive bars, restaurants and galleries, there’s plenty to see and do on these elegant streets. Renowned for all things stylish, Mayfair also boasts some top London hairdressers and shopping destinations for a perfect day of pampering. For an unforgettable brunch, head to Sketch restaurant – a contemporary tearoom with quirky decor inspired by the artwork of illustrator David Shrigley.

Chelsea

Made all the more popular by e4 show Made in Chelsea, this London borough certainly holds a spot as one of the city’s most luxurious spots. The beautiful streets of Chelsea boast a plethora of things to see and do, such as the prestigious Saatchi art gallery and a fantastic selection of chic bars and restaurants. Taking a stroll up the fashionable King’s Road is also not to go amiss – if even to bump into some famous faces!

Notting hill

The colourful, lively and eclectic neighbourhood of Notting Hill is one of the city’s most vibrant destinations, and certainly not to be missed. Notting Hill has come a long way since its working class roots, transforming into one of the most expensive places to live in London. Despite it’s gentrification, Notting Hill still keeps an air of culture amongst all the luxury, with events such as Notting Hill carnival, Portobello Road Market and a plethora of vintage shops and boutiques to hunt down some unexpected gems.
