In January of 2013 we took part in a very exciting project with 4 other bloggers. Visiting the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados in the world’s first ever “Blogathon”. It was a fantastic privilege to be a part of it and great fun as each blogger had a week to enjoy both a Elite Island resort and explore the island in their own style of blogging. From food to romance, fashion to adventure.
The Caribbean of course has many other island nations to explore so I’m very excited to announce we’ll be returning to the region in January of 2014! The Blogathon returns but this time with a twist. 4 bloggers, 4 weeks and a whole load of island hopping!
Our friends at Elite Island Resorts are organising the all new Hopathon concept where we’ll not only be taking it in turns to visit islands in the Caribbean, we’ll be hopping from one to another during our week in the sun. One again we’ll be passing the baton from blogger to blogger with Abigail King from Inside The Travel Lab, Jayne Gorman from 40 Before 30 and Niamh Shields from Eat Like a Girl. The same great team as before but this time some new destinations to explore.
On 4th January we’ll be flying out from Gatwick, England to the beautiful Caribbean island of Antigua. Our mission, to seek out the romance of a true luxury Caribbean holiday. We’ll be spending a few days at the Verandah Resort and Spa and exploring its 30 acres of beachfront facilities located near the beautiful National Park.
We’ll then hop on over to the island nation of Saint Lucia where we’ll be staying at St James’s Club Morgan Bay. A relaxing resort and spa where we’ll be sampling both the tranquil treatments on offer and the water sports that are included at the resort. We’ll also get out and about to sample of more of what Saint Lucia has to offer.
Then its back to Antigua and we stay at the Galley Bay Resort and Spa to check out its Tahitian architecture inspired by Gauguin. Apparently users of TripAdvisor have ranked it in the “10 Best Resorts for Romance in the Caribbean” so we’re very keen to see for ourselves. Then we’ll hand the hopathon baton over to Abigail King to continue the adventure.
This exciting project is made possible thanks to our friends at Elite Island Resorts, British Airways Holidays, British Virgin Islands Tourism, Saint Lucia Tourism and No 1 Traveller. They’ll be looking after all of the bloggers on this trip and sharing all the photos, videos and posts we create.
In between all the romance and resort life we’ll be checking out the local culture and scenery, indulging in some fantastic local cuisine and reporting back to you daily on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Of course we’ll also be posting on this very site so keep an eye out for those. There’s lots of other ways you can follow the bloggers during this month of island hopping in the Caribbean. Here’s how…
We’ll be posting some inspiring photos from Antigua and Saint Lucia before we head out so keep an eye on this site and our the hashtag #EliteHOP too.
