Choosing where to go on holiday this year is no laughing matter. Serious thought and consideration must be taken as those precious few weeks away from work need to be utilised into an exciting adventure, unforgettable memories and a chance to unwind. Here is a list of holiday ideas (one of which I will be doing in August) that are perfect for the girl who is in need of inspiration, and if you are looking for spontaneity, here are some great ideas for weekend getaways.
Whether you are a seasoned surfer or you’re cutting the waves for the first time, where better to hang ten than the birthplace of surfing on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The south shores of Waikiki provide gentle waves and are ideal for those who are more likely to ‘wipeout’. Surfing lessons are available on Waikiki beach as well as other beaches around the island with expert guidance on how to perfect your technique or to go through the basics for first-timers. A journey to the north shore of the island will take you to densest concentration of powerful waves on Earth. October is a great time to visit the north shore just before the media descend there in November for the World Championship Tour.

In August I will be jetting off to the U, S of A on a trek across the west coast which will take me to some amazing destinations. In the two week trek I have opted for, I will fly into LA for one night before I join the rest of the people on my trek along with my experienced tour guide. Some of the destinations along the way include:
I am very excited about taking my first helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, for what promises to be some gut-churning views that will stay with me a lifetime. I also can’t wait to hug the giant Sequoia trees in Yosemite and to see what all the fuss is about in Las Vegas. Nine of the fourteen days will be spent camping out under the stars, with not a minute available to get bored or long for home. This trip is great for singles, couples who are looking for adventure – with some trek leader hand-holding – or for small groups of friends who want to cram as much adventure as possible into two weeks.

Portugal has much more to offer tourists than gorgeous beaches, stunning architecture and delicious food. It also offers a chance to combine glorious sunshine with a chance to enjoy 18 holes on the golf course. Although not the first girly holiday that comes to mind, golfing is a way to relax, increase skill and let out your competitive side. Golfing holidays in the Algarve are a favourite with many golf enthusiasts who wish to combine a visit to Portugal with a few rounds. The most famous resorts include Vilamoura and Albufeira, but in recent years there has been much development in the west and eastern resorts with some great courses on offer. Whether you spend every day on the course, or just a few days as part of relaxing trip to the southernmost region of Portugal, this is sure to be a getaway to remember.

If life is giving you too much adventure to deal with, a spa retreat could be ideal to un-knot your shoulders and give your mind a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday worries. With so many exotic locations to choose from, I decided to give the UK a bit of a boost and recommend the beautiful destination of Saundersfoot in Wales. With the coastline of Pembrokeshire on your doorstep, you can sit in the infinity pool at St Brides Spa Hotel and watch the world go by. As well as rejuvenating you with stress-relieving treatments, you can enjoy breath-taking coastal views. The harbour provides a chance to try your hand at fishing or to take on one of the many water sports available. Not to worry though, anything strenuous that is done will be remedied with a full body massage.
